Palm Beach County at a Glance for a Business Owner

Palm Beach County was the third most populous county in Florida in the July 2025 estimates, narrowly ahead of Hillsborough County, according to the Census Bureau's county population estimates for July 2025 (opens in a new tab), but it does not behave like one market. The county's planning division lists 39 incorporated cities, towns and villages, from Cloud Lake, with 134 residents at the 2020 Census, to West Palm Beach, the county seat, with 117,415 (Palm Beach County Profile (opens in a new tab)). The same profile notes the county was incorporated in 1909 and measures roughly 45 miles from north to south.

1,575,726residents, Census Bureau estimate for July 1, 2025
39incorporated municipalities
10.6 millionvisitors from October 2024 through September 2025
34.2%of residents age 5+ speak a language other than English at home

Those figures come from U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts for Palm Beach County (opens in a new tab), the county planning division and Discover The Palm Beaches. The Census counted 1,492,191 residents in April 2020, so the county added more than 83,000 people in about five years. On top of the year-round population, county planners estimated about 158,900 additional seasonal residents, based on 2020 Census housing data.

Where A1A Runs Through the County

Discover The Palm Beaches, the county's official tourism marketing organization, describes A1A running alongside 47 miles of Atlantic beaches (opens in a new tab). The Florida Department of Transportation's project list shows how much of it doubles as a local main street. A1A is South Ocean Boulevard through Highland Beach and Delray Beach (opens in a new tab), it continues as South Ocean Boulevard from Lake Worth Beach into the Town of Palm Beach (opens in a new tab), and it crosses the Boynton Inlet on its own bridge (opens in a new tab). Up in Jupiter, the county lists the entrance to Carlin Park (opens in a new tab), one of its oceanfront parks, as 400 S. S.R. A1A.

For a business, that makes A1A less a highway than a string of separate neighborhoods, each with its own customers, parking and pace. A shop that does well on one stretch cannot assume the next town over knows it exists.

Three Coastal Markets and the Western Communities

North county: Jupiter, Tequesta, Juno Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse anchors this end of the county. It was first lit in 1860 and stands inside a 120-acre Outstanding Natural Area that Congress designated in 2008, which the Bureau of Land Management (opens in a new tab) says is the only unit of the National Conservation Lands east of the Mississippi River. Landmarks like the lighthouse and the inlet are how visitors describe where they want to be, so they belong in the directions and location copy of a north county business.

Central county: West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Riviera Beach and Singer Island, Lake Worth Beach and Lantana. This stretch holds the county seat and the Town of Palm Beach, which counted 9,245 year-round residents in 2020 plus an estimated 6,537 seasonal residents in the planning division's figures. A business there serves a noticeably bigger town in high season than out of it.

South county: Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge, Delray Beach, Highland Beach and Boca Raton. Boca Raton is the county's second-largest municipality, with 97,422 residents at the 2020 Census, and Boynton Beach (80,380) and Delray Beach (66,846) rank third and fourth. Along the beach, Highland Beach shows the seasonal pattern again: 4,295 year-round residents and an estimated 2,375 seasonal residents on top.

Western communities: Wellington and Royal Palm Beach. Away from A1A, Wellington became a village on December 31, 1995 and is, in the village's own words, recognized as the winter equestrian capital of the world (opens in a new tab). Farther west the county reaches Lake Okeechobee and the farm towns of Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay. The Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension (opens in a new tab) reports that the county leads Florida in agricultural sales, an estimated $1.397 billion in 2019-2020, and leads the nation in sugarcane, fresh sweet corn and sweet bell peppers.

What Drives Business in Palm Beach County

Tourism is the obvious engine. Discover The Palm Beaches reported 10.6 million visitors in the fiscal year from October 2024 through September 2025 (opens in a new tab), an estimated $11.3 billion economic impact and about 90,000 local jobs supported. The same release names Thanksgiving as the start of the county's high season. The Census Bureau's 2022 Economic Census put accommodation and food services sales in the county at about $6.3 billion.

The economy is much broader than visitors. The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County lists its targeted industries (opens in a new tab) as aviation, aerospace and engineering; distribution and logistics; financial services; corporate headquarters; technology and cleantech; agribusiness; life science and healthcare; quantum technologies; and marine industries. Health care and social assistance businesses in the county took in about $16.5 billion in 2022, according to the Census Bureau.

Competition is dense, too. The Census counted 55,803 employer establishments in the county in 2023 and 261,006 businesses with no employees in 2024. That is a lot of companies asking the same search engines for the same customers, which is why generic, county-wide websites tend to disappear.

What That Means for Your Website in Palm Beach County

Plan the year around high season

If Thanksgiving starts the busy months, your website needs to be ready in October, not December. That means seasonal hours, menus, rates and event pages written in advance and published on a schedule, plus a quieter-season version of the same pages for the year-round residents who carry you through summer. We build the site so that switching between the two is an edit, not a redesign.

High season also overlaps the end of hurricane season, which the National Hurricane Center (opens in a new tab) dates from June 1 to November 30, with a peak around September 10. Palm Beach County's Know Your Zone page (opens in a new tab) offers a Hurricane Evacuation Zone Look-up Tool and sign-up for AlertPBC, the county's emergency notification system. A business on the barrier islands should have a storm-status notice written and ready to switch on, and a site the owner can update quickly from any browser.

Write for the town, not for "Palm Beach"

Customers rarely search for Palm Beach County. They search for a plumber in Tequesta or brunch in Lake Worth Beach, and they notice when a business seems vague about where it actually is. Name the towns you really serve, explain where you are in relation to landmarks people know, and keep your business name, address and phone number identical everywhere they appear. A separate page for a town earns its place only when it carries something true and specific about that town; our local SEO service explains how we decide.

Plain-English tip: seven of the county's 39 municipalities have "Palm Beach" in their names: Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, North Palm Beach, South Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach Shores and Royal Palm Beach. If your site just says "Palm Beach," customers and search engines have to guess which one you mean.

Decide on languages with real numbers

The Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey found that 34.2% of county residents age 5 and older speak a language other than English at home, and 27.7% of residents were born outside the United States. The detailed language spoken at home table (opens in a new tab) shows about 293,000 residents who speak Spanish and about 98,000 who speak French, Haitian or Cajun, which the Census reports as one group. If your customers come from those households, as many do in healthcare, home services, legal work and real estate, a properly built second-language section beats an automatic translation widget. We set it up with the right language attributes and hreflang links so search engines show each version to the right reader. The translation itself should come from a fluent speaker you trust.

Serve customers who are not here yet

Seasonal residents and visitors often decide before they arrive. Your site should let someone in another state book, order, request a quote or check availability without having to call during your business hours, state your hours in Eastern time, and answer the questions people ask before a trip: parking, reservations, pets and accessibility.

Give AI assistants something accurate to repeat

People now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews which business to choose in a particular town. Those tools lean on pages that state facts plainly. A short, factual location block (town, nearby landmarks, hours by season, service area), matching structured data and consistent listings leave them less room to guess. Our answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization pages show how we approach it.

Design for every age group

About 26.1% of the county's residents are 65 or older. Readable type, strong contrast, generous tap targets and forms that work with a keyboard and a screen reader are part of every build, tested against WCAG 2.2 AA. Our ADA website accessibility page explains the testing.

Industries We Build For in Palm Beach County

  • Real estate and property management: the median value of an owner-occupied home in the county was $447,300 in the 2020-2024 survey. Agents and managers need listing pages and neighborhood guides for specific towns, not county-wide generalities. See real estate website design.
  • Restaurants, cafes and bars: menus that read well on a phone, seasonal hours search engines can trust, and clear paths to reservations or ordering. See restaurant website design.
  • Hotels, vacation rentals, charters and attractions: with 10.6 million visitors in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, booking-ready pages and photos that match the property matter. See hospitality website design.
  • Marine businesses: the Business Development Board counts marine industries among its targets. Boat service, dockage, charters and repair yards need clear service lists and quote requests. See custom website design.
  • Healthcare, legal and financial practices: trust signals, accessibility and, where patients and clients need it, a second language.
  • Equestrian and agricultural businesses in the western county: trainers, barns, suppliers and growers with seasonal schedules and buyers who are often from out of the area.

Every build includes the search groundwork from our local SEO, AEO and GEO services, plus the speed and code-quality work described on our website performance page.

How a Remote Project Runs for a Palm Beach County Business

  1. A first call that fits your season

We talk by phone or video at a time that suits you, on Eastern time, and plan the schedule around your busiest weeks instead of through them.

  2. A look at your town's search results

Before designing anything, we check who shows up when people search for your service in your town and the next town over, and what those sites do well or badly.

  3. Content for both halves of the year

We map the pages, write or polish the copy with you, and prepare in-season versions of hours, menus or rates ahead of time.

  4. A private preview your whole team can see

You review working pages on your own phone and computer through a private link, and can share it with partners or staff who are out of town.

  5. Launch before the rush, then measure

We aim to launch ahead of high season, set up Google Search Console and analytics, and report back in plain English on what people searched for and what they did.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to launch a new website in Palm Beach County?

For most coastal businesses, aim to launch by October. Discover The Palm Beaches, the county's official tourism marketing organization, marks Thanksgiving as the start of high season, and a new site needs a few weeks for search engines to crawl it and for you to fix anything customers trip over. Launching in the middle of your busiest weeks leaves no time for either.

Should my website have Spanish or Haitian Creole pages?

It depends on who your customers are, but the numbers justify asking. The Census Bureau reports that 34.2% of county residents age 5 and older speak a language other than English at home, including about 293,000 who speak Spanish and about 98,000 who speak French, Haitian or Cajun. If those households are your customers, a translated section built properly serves them far better than an automatic translation widget.

How do you get photos of my business if you never visit?

You or a local photographer take them, guided by a shot list we write for your business: the storefront and signage, the space at its best time of day, your team, your work and the details customers ask about. We edit, compress and size every image for the web. We never pass off stock photos as your location.

Is A1A Web Design a fit for a business in Wellington or Royal Palm Beach, away from the beach?

Yes. The A1A name describes the coast we focus on, not a limit on where we work. The western communities have their own calendar, such as Wellington's winter equestrian season, and we plan content around it the same way we plan for high season in the beach towns. Every project is remote, so distance from the ocean makes no difference.

My best customers are seasonal residents. How should the website treat them?

Make it easy to deal with you from out of state. Publish your seasonal hours before they change, let people book, order or request a quote online, and offer email or text follow-up instead of requiring a call during business hours. Palm Beach County's planners estimated roughly 158,900 seasonal residents on top of the permanent population, so this is a large audience.

Can AI assistants such as ChatGPT recommend my Palm Beach County business?

They can, but nobody can force them to. AI tools tend to repeat what consistent, well-structured sources say. We make sure your website states your services, towns, hours and contact details plainly, add matching structured data, and help you keep your Google Business Profile and directory listings consistent, so an assistant has accurate facts to work from.
