A1A Web Design builds websites, local SEO and AI search groundwork for Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge businesses: charter captains at the marina, medical offices, home-service companies, shops and the property managers who look after island homes. We work by phone, video and email from Buffalo, New York, on Eastern time, with no Florida office.

Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge at a Glance for Business Owners

Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge face each other across the Intracoastal Waterway, and until 1931 they were one municipality. The original Town of Boynton took in what are now Boynton Beach, Ocean Ridge, Briny Breezes and the southern part of Manalapan. That year, after a tax dispute over the beachfront land, the Florida Legislature created a separate oceanfront town named Boynton Beach, which renamed itself Ocean Ridge in 1939, according to the Town of Ocean Ridge history page (opens in a new tab). The mainland town then took the Boynton Beach name for itself in 1941, as the Historical Society of Palm Beach County (opens in a new tab) recounts. That naming history is why so much of the advice on this page comes back to stating clearly which town you mean.

82,396Boynton Beach residents, Census estimate for July 1, 2025
1,868Ocean Ridge residents, Census estimate for July 1, 2025
14,658Boynton Beach residents who speak French, Haitian or Cajun at home, 2020-2024
49.1%of Ocean Ridge residents are 65 or older, 2020-2024

The population estimates come from the Census Bureau's city and town population totals (opens in a new tab). The language and age figures are American Community Survey estimates for 2020-2024, which carry wide margins of error in a town as small as Ocean Ridge, so treat them as a good guide rather than an exact count.

Boynton Beach: the Mainland City

Boynton became an incorporated town in 1920; the city's historical information page (opens in a new tab) dates it to April 14 of that year, citing its first ordinance book. The city has kept growing in recent decades. The county planning division's profile (opens in a new tab) shows 46,194 residents in 1990 and 80,380 at the 2020 Census, roughly 34,000 more people in thirty years. Census QuickFacts for Boynton Beach (opens in a new tab) lists 16.16 square miles of land, and reports that 29.6% of residents were born outside the United States and 38.0% of those age 5 and older speak a language other than English at home.

The language mix here does not follow the county pattern. The Census Bureau's language spoken at home table for Boynton Beach (opens in a new tab) counts 14,658 residents in its French, Haitian or Cajun group, against 10,160 who speak Spanish, and 6,057 people in that first group say they speak English less than very well. For a clinic, a law office, a tax preparer or a contractor, that is a specific number to plan around rather than a vague sense that the city is diverse.

On the water, the city's working harbor is public property. The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency bought the Boynton Harbor Marina (opens in a new tab) on Casa Loma Boulevard in March 2006 to keep a commercial fishing marina dating to the 1940s working and open to the public, and the agency describes it as the only publicly owned marina in south Palm Beach County. The city's marina and waterfront page (opens in a new tab) places it half a mile south of the Boynton Inlet and lists fishing charters, drift fishing and scuba diving among the trips that leave from its docks.

Inland, Tri-Rail, the regional commuter railroad, stops at Boynton Beach station on High Ridge Road (opens in a new tab), with Palm Tran routes 70 and 73 connecting there. Farther west, Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lee Road lead to the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge (opens in a new tab). The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the refuge was established in 1951 and protects 145,188 acres of Everglades ecosystems, and its visitor center on Lee Road uses a Boynton Beach mailing address.

The city's largest sales totals come from shops and health care rather than hotels and restaurants. In the 2022 Economic Census, Boynton Beach retail sales came to about $1.76 billion and health care and social assistance businesses took in about $910 million, while accommodation and food services sales were about $325 million. The median household income was $70,074 in the 2020-2024 survey, and 64.7% of occupied homes were lived in by their owners.

Ocean Ridge: the Barrier-Island Town

Ocean Ridge sits on the barrier island just south of the Boynton Inlet. Its history page says the town held its first meeting on May 16, 1931 with twelve homes inside its limits, and that it measured three miles long and half a mile wide, a third of it under water. The present name came out of a naming contest held before the 1939 change.

It is still a small place. The Census Bureau's profile of Ocean Ridge (opens in a new tab) shows 1,830 residents at the 2020 Census on about 0.8 square miles of land, and the 2025 estimate is 1,868. County planners add an estimated 918 seasonal residents, about half again the year-round population. The housing figures point the same way: the 2020-2024 survey found 1,601 housing units but only 852 households, so close to half of the homes were not anyone's usual residence when surveyed.

The people who do live here year round are older and well off. The same survey's demographic table (opens in a new tab) puts the median age at 64.8, with 49.1% of residents 65 or older, and the Census profile shows a median household income of $128,750, with 80.2% of adults 25 and over holding at least a bachelor's degree.

A1A passes through the town as North Ocean Boulevard, where Town Hall stands at number 6450. The road has not always run here: the town history notes that A1A moved to its present path after the 1947 hurricane, and the old route became Old Ocean Boulevard. At the north end, Palm Beach County manages the South Lake Worth Inlet (opens in a new tab), also known as the Boynton Inlet, which the county places between Manalapan and Ocean Ridge. The county runs a sand transfer plant there and dredges the inlet's sand trap every six years; the 2025 dredge removed more than 55,000 cubic yards of sand and placed it along the beach to the south.

Public beach parks sit along the town's shore. The county's Ocean Inlet Park (opens in a new tab), at 6990 North Ocean Boulevard, has 600 feet of guarded beach and a jetty where inlet fishing is allowed around the clock, and the county's Ocean Ridge Hammock Park (opens in a new tab), at 6620 North Ocean Boulevard, has an unguarded beach. A little farther south, Oceanfront Park (opens in a new tab), at 6415 North Ocean Boulevard, is run by the City of Boynton Beach, which staffs its lifeguards and sells its annual parking permits at City Hall, even though its address is in Ocean Ridge. The town also keeps a sea turtle protection ordinance on its books, which the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (opens in a new tab) lists among the local rules that control beachfront lighting for hatchlings.

What a Website Has to Do on Each Side of the Bridge

The two towns hand a business owner opposite problems. Boynton Beach is a large, growing city where more than a third of residents age 5 and up speak a language other than English at home. Ocean Ridge is tiny, older and part-time, and many of the people paying for services there spend months somewhere else. A site that works for either one has to know which of those audiences it is talking to.

  • Say exactly which town you are in: Boynton Beach City Hall at 100 East Ocean Avenue and Ocean Ridge Town Hall both use the 33435 ZIP code, Boynton Beach runs a beach park at an Ocean Ridge address, and Ocean Ridge itself was called Boynton Beach until 1939. With that much overlap, remove the doubt yourself: put your real municipality in your address, your structured data and your Google Business Profile, and describe your spot with landmarks locals use, like the Ocean Avenue bridge or the inlet.
  • Plan a Haitian Creole path if your customers need one: with about 6,000 Boynton Beach residents in the French, Haitian or Cajun group speaking English less than very well, a medical office, insurance agency or contractor that serves those households should plan for it. Start small and do it well: one translated services page written by a fluent speaker, a contact form that asks which language to reply in, and a line naming which staff members speak Creole.
  • Write for readers in their sixties and seventies: Ocean Ridge has a median age of 64.8, and 22.5% of Boynton Beach residents are 65 or older. That argues for a phone number written as real text that dials when tapped, forms that ask only for what you need, no pop-ups covering the page, and service details a customer can print and keep by the phone.
  • Serve the owner who is away: close to half of Ocean Ridge homes were not anyone's usual residence when surveyed, so the person paying a home watch, pool, landscaping or repair company is often living somewhere else. Show how you report back after each visit, such as dated photos by email, explain how you handle keys and alarm codes, and list the island streets you cover.
  • Give boaters the details a dock listing leaves out: trips leaving the Boynton Harbor Marina should state the meeting point, trip length, what the price includes, the experience needed for each dive and how weather cancellations work. The city lists seven kinds of trips and rentals from those docks, from drift fishing to parasailing, so a clear, complete trip page is what separates one operator from the next.
  • Name the beach park and who runs it: the beach parks on North Ocean Boulevard described above belong to two governments. Ocean Inlet Park and Ocean Ridge Hammock Park are county parks, while Oceanfront Park is run by the City of Boynton Beach, which sells its annual parking permits at City Hall. A rental, cafe or lesson business that sends people to the beach should name the exact park and link to the agency that runs it, so customers find the right rules and parking.

Industries We Build For in Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge

Most of the work we expect here falls into a handful of groups, each tied to something particular about these two towns.

  • Charters, dive operators and marine services: the public marina and the inlet make Boynton a departure point for fishing and diving trips, and those trips sell in different ways. A boat that sells single seats needs a different booking page from one chartered whole, and a dive trip should say what experience each site calls for. That is the core of our hospitality website design work, and a business that does several of these, or adds boat repair, may need a custom website design instead of a booking template.
  • Medical, dental and therapy practices: health care and social assistance businesses in the city took in about $910 million in 2022, and patients here skew older and multilingual. Our ADA website accessibility testing covers the screen reader, keyboard and contrast checks those patients rely on.
  • Real estate, property management and home watch: Boynton Beach had a median owner-occupied home value of $351,100 in the 2020-2024 survey, while Ocean Ridge is a small island market where many homes are not anyone's main residence. Those are different markets, so they belong on separate pages, and every Ocean Ridge listing should name the town outright, since it shares the 33435 ZIP code with Boynton Beach. Our real estate website design covers how we set that up.
  • Restaurants and cafes: an eatery within reach of the Boynton Harbor Marina can name the marina and Casa Loma Boulevard in its directions, so a charter guest coming off the boat knows how close it is. See restaurant website design.
  • Shops and service companies: with 2022 retail sales of about $1.76 billion in a single city, naming the right town and neighborhood the same way everywhere is part of standing out, and it is the core of our local SEO.

The name overlap between the two towns is also why plain, consistent facts matter for AI tools. Our answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization work states your town, street address and service area in plain text and in structured data, so an assistant is not left to work out on its own whether you are in Boynton Beach or Ocean Ridge. Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge Website Questions

Ocean Avenue, North Ocean Boulevard and Old Ocean Boulevard all run through these towns. How do I keep customers from going to the wrong one?

Write the full street name and the town every time, never just Ocean. East Ocean Avenue, where Boynton Beach City Hall stands, crosses the Intracoastal on a drawbridge; North Ocean Boulevard is A1A on the island; and Old Ocean Boulevard is the former A1A route described in the Ocean Ridge town history. Add a map link that drops a pin on your actual door, name the nearest landmark, and use the same address format on your Google Business Profile so navigation apps agree with your site.

How much should a Boynton dive or fishing charter website say about the inlet and sea conditions?

Enough for a guest to prepare, and nothing that sounds like a promise. Explain that trips run out through the Boynton Inlet, roughly how long the ride to the first spot takes, what to wear and bring, and what happens when the captain calls a trip off. Put your cancellation and refund rules in plain words on the booking page, and never promise flat water or particular sightings, because the sea decides those on the day.

What should a Boynton Beach medical or dental practice put on its homepage first?

Your phone number, address and parking, the insurance plans you accept, your hours and the languages your staff speak. In a city where 22.5% of residents are 65 or older and 38.0% of those 5 and up speak a language other than English at home, those answers matter more than a rotating slideshow. If your staff can see patients in Haitian Creole or Spanish, say so near the top of the page, in that language as well as in English.

Is the Boynton Inlet the same as the South Lake Worth Inlet, and which name should my fishing, dive or boat business use?

It is one inlet with two names. Palm Beach County's coastal program calls it the South Lake Worth Inlet and gives Boynton Inlet as its other name, while the City of Boynton Beach uses Boynton Inlet on its marina page. Lead with Boynton Inlet in your headings and directions, since it carries the town name, and mention the official name once, so a guest who reads a county notice about the sand transfer plant or a dredging project knows it is the same inlet you run through.

My shop sits on the road out to the Loxahatchee refuge. Should my website mention it?

If refuge visitors are really your customers, yes. The refuge entrance is at 10216 Lee Road, reached from Boynton Beach Boulevard, and a line saying you are on the way there tells a visitor you are convenient. Leave the refuge hours and entrance fees off your own pages, because they change; link to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service page instead so the details are always current.
