A1A Web Design builds websites, plus the local search groundwork behind them, for Wellington and Royal Palm Beach businesses: barns, medical offices, shops, restaurants and home-service companies. Projects run by phone, video call and email out of Buffalo, New York, home of our parent company, AldoMedia, LLC. We have no Florida office and keep Eastern hours, the same as yours.
Wellington and Royal Palm Beach at a Glance for Business Owners
Neither village is on A1A, and neither has a beach. The Village of Royal Palm Beach describes itself as 10 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean (opens in a new tab), in the central part of the county, and Wellington notes in its own history that its southwestern boundary is the Florida Everglades. These are inland, year-round suburbs with a horse-country calendar layered on top, and a website for either one should be written that way.
All four numbers come from the Census Bureau QuickFacts comparison of the two villages and the county (opens in a new tab), which sets them side by side. At the 2020 Census, Wellington counted 61,637 residents and Royal Palm Beach 38,932. Both villages are younger than the county overall: 23.6% of Wellington residents and 22.5% of Royal Palm Beach residents are under 18, against 18.5% countywide, while 17.6% and 18.9% are 65 or older, compared with 26.1% across the county.
Wellington: horse country with a village government
Wellington residents voted to incorporate in a November 1995 referendum, and the village government began operating on March 28, 1996, according to the village history page (opens in a new tab). It covers 44.97 square miles of land, nearly four times the area of Royal Palm Beach, so the village takes in both suburban subdivisions and working horse farms.
According to the village's equestrian community page (opens in a new tab), polo arrived in 1977, and today more than 580 farms serve polo, dressage, hunter/jumper and recreational riders. Wellington has written an equestrian element into its comprehensive plan and adopted an Equestrian Overlay Zoning District to preserve and enhance what it calls the Equestrian Preserve Area, and it maintains more than 100 miles of public bridle trails. On its legislative tracking page (opens in a new tab), the village says the equestrian season begins in November and runs through April, and that Wellington is home to nearly 13,000 horses during peak season.
The Wellington Environmental Preserve at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat (opens in a new tab) is a rainwater storage area with walking trails, a boardwalk, an observation tower and a 3.6-mile equestrian perimeter trail, built in partnership with the South Florida Water Management District. Peaceful Waters Sanctuary (opens in a new tab) adds a 30-acre wetlands park with 1,500 feet of boardwalk.
The Census figures describe a well-off, well-educated customer base: a median household income of $115,632, a median owner-occupied home value of $599,400, and 49.7% of adults 25 and older with at least a bachelor's degree. Health care also carries real weight: Census economic data put 2022 receipts for Wellington's health care and social assistance businesses at about $647 million.
Royal Palm Beach: smaller, denser and growing faster
As a municipality, Royal Palm Beach is the older of the two. According to the village's About page (opens in a new tab), Royal Palm Beach incorporated in 1959 and covers 11 square miles (the Census measures 11.34 square miles of land). In 2020 it held 3,431.9 people per square mile, about two and a half times the density of Wellington, and its 7.7% growth since the April 2020 estimates base is more than four times Wellington's rate.
The number that stands out is shopping. Census retail sales in Royal Palm Beach reached about $1.76 billion in 2022, more than twice Wellington's $772 million, even though the village has about two-thirds as many residents. Per resident, that works out to $44,745, roughly double the county figure of $22,400. That pattern suggests many of the people buying in Royal Palm Beach live outside it, so a store or restaurant here competes for customers who drive in.
The same About page lists three green-space commitments: Royal Palm Beach has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation since 1990, the entire village is designated a bird sanctuary, and the village has set a standard of 10 acres of parkland per 1,000 residents. Commons Park and Sporting Center (opens in a new tab), on Poinciana Boulevard, has a 19-acre lake, a canoe and kayak launch, a wedding pavilion, a banquet garden and a golf training center. Residents own their homes at a high rate, 82.3% in the 2020-2024 survey, the median home value is $437,700, and 30.2% of residents were born outside the United States.
What a Website Needs to Do in Wellington and Royal Palm Beach
Those facts call for a different kind of website than a beach town needs. Customers here are mostly year-round households, the peak months are set by horses rather than hotel rates, and the retail numbers suggest that shoppers cross village lines. A few things follow.
- Run two calendars. An equestrian business lives on the November to April season the village describes, while many family-facing businesses here follow the school year. Plan content for both: season pages for riders and owners who arrive in the fall, and steady year-round pages for the families who are still here in July.
- Answer the after-work search. Workers in both villages average more than 30 minutes getting to work (32.1 minutes in Wellington, 30.7 in Royal Palm Beach). A parent comparing pediatric dentists or pool services at 9 PM needs online booking, a quote form that works on a phone and an honest reply time, not just a phone number.
- Give directions that outsiders can follow. If Royal Palm Beach retail draws from well beyond its own residents, your pages should name the main roads and neighboring communities your customers know, explain parking, and check that the hours on your website match your Google Business Profile to the minute.
- Plan for wind, not just water. Being 10 miles from the beach changes the storm risk; it does not remove it. During Hurricane Milton on October 9, 2024, the National Weather Service damage survey (opens in a new tab) traced an EF3 tornado whose surveyed path began in Wellington's Rustic Ranches section and crossed the far western part of the village, leaving 1 structure destroyed, 20 with major damage and 59 with minor damage in Wellington. Keep a closure and reopening notice ready to publish, and host your site where a local power outage cannot reach it.
- Offer Spanish where your customers need it. In Census Table C16001 for the two villages (opens in a new tab), about 13,600 people in Wellington and 8,700 in Royal Palm Beach speak Spanish at home, counting everyone age 5 and up: a little under a quarter of that group in each village. Ask your front desk how often callers would rather talk in Spanish. If the answer is often, translate the pages that lead to a booking or a quote first, and have a fluent speaker do it.
- Match the price point. Wellington's median household income is $115,632 and its median owner-occupied home is valued at $599,400. If you sell a premium service there, slow pages, stretched photos and broken forms undercut the price you are asking. Fast, accessible pages tested against WCAG 2.2 AA are the baseline we build to.
Businesses We Build For in the Western Communities
Here are the kinds of local businesses we expect to fit best, each with a reason tied to the two villages.
- Equestrian services: trainers, boarding barns, farriers, veterinarians, transporters and tack suppliers working among more than 580 farms. They need season availability, a page per discipline and an inquiry form that an owner in another state can fill out before ever seeing the barn. See custom website design.
- Doctors, dentists and therapists: health care receipts near $647 million in Wellington alone show how large the local market for care is. Patients expect accessible forms, clear insurance information and pages that work with a screen reader; see ADA website accessibility.
- Retailers and restaurants: $1.76 billion in Royal Palm Beach retail sales means real competition for shoppers arriving from outside the village. Menus, hours and specials have to be easy to find and easy for Google to trust; see restaurant website design and local SEO.
- Real estate agents, brokers and property managers: the two villages sit at very different price points, a $599,400 median home value in Wellington against $437,700 in Royal Palm Beach, so one generic "western communities" page serves neither group of buyers well. See real estate website design.
- Home services: pool care, landscaping, roofing, fencing, plumbing and cleaning, in villages where owners live in 75.8% and 82.3% of occupied homes. Clear service areas and pages that answer the questions homeowners actually type help with answer engine optimization.
- Seasonal lodging: if you rent homes, rooms or stalls to people who come for the winter season, our hospitality website design page covers booking and availability.
Every site is hand-coded and measured for speed; our website performance page shows what we test. To see how a project runs from the first call to launch, read the Palm Beach County page or send us a note about your business.
Wellington and Royal Palm Beach Website Questions
What should an equestrian business website show before the Wellington season starts?
The village says its equestrian season begins in November and runs through April, so have the season pages ready by early fall: services by discipline, current openings for training, boarding or lessons, how to reach you on show days, and a short inquiry form. If first inquiries arrive before people are in town, the page has to answer pricing and logistics questions on its own, without waiting for a phone call.
Our barn is inside the Wellington Equestrian Preserve Area. Should the website mention it?
Yes, if it is accurate. The village guides the Equestrian Preserve Area through an equestrian element in its comprehensive plan and an Equestrian Overlay Zoning District, and it maintains more than 100 miles of public bridle trails, so the name tells an owner something real about where a horse will live. Say it near the top of your boarding or training page, then add the details an owner will ask about before visiting: turnout, arena footing, stall size and how far it is to the nearest bridle trail.
Should a Royal Palm Beach store try to reach shoppers from Wellington and beyond?
Usually, yes. Census figures show about $44,745 in retail sales per Royal Palm Beach resident in 2022, roughly double the county figure, which suggests that many of the shoppers in the village live outside it. Before writing anything, check where your own customers come from: the ZIP codes on your orders and the place names in your Google Search Console queries. Then name those places in your directions and delivery or service-area text, so a shopper from Wellington can tell right away that you expect customers from there.
Royal Palm Beach keeps adding residents. How do newcomers find a local business?
Many of them search, because they have not had time to collect recommendations from neighbors. The Census counted 38,932 people in the village in 2020 and estimates 42,477 for July 2025, an increase of more than 3,500. When a newcomer searches for your service with the village name, the result should be a page that says plainly that you serve Royal Palm Beach, shows where you are, and makes the first appointment simple to book.
What do Wellington and Royal Palm Beach families look for first on a local business website?
Whether your schedule fits around school. More than a fifth of the residents in both villages are under 18, a bigger share than the county's 18.5%, so many of your customers are planning around drop-off, practice and homework. Show after-school and Saturday availability, say when summer hours change, and put a booking or quote button where a parent on a phone can reach it without scrolling.
