Riviera Beach and Singer Island at a Glance for Business Owners

Riviera Beach is one city with two very different shorelines. The mainland side, west of the Lake Worth Lagoon, holds the Port of Palm Beach, the city marina, City Hall on Blue Heron Boulevard and most of the city's neighborhoods. Across the Blue Heron Bridge, Singer Island carries the city's oceanfront condominium towers and beaches, while the island's southern tip is a separate municipality, the Town of Palm Beach Shores. A business here first has to decide which of those customers it is really after, and then say so on every page.

Riviera Beach: the working waterfront

Riviera Beach was incorporated as the Town of Riviera on September 29, 1922, when 26 voters met and decided to form a town, and it officially became the City of Riviera Beach in 1959, according to the history section of the city's FY 2025-2026 annual budget (opens in a new tab). The Census counted 37,604 residents in April 2020, and the Bureau's estimate for July 1, 2025 is 39,357, a rise of 4.6% from the Bureau's April 2020 estimates base of 37,617, per Census QuickFacts for Riviera Beach (opens in a new tab). The city covers about 8.28 square miles of land, and its own profile lists Interstate 95, Florida's Turnpike and U.S. 1 as its major highways.

The Port of Palm Beach sits inside the city limits. On its general information page (opens in a new tab), the port describes itself as the fourth busiest container port of Florida's 14 deepwater ports and the 18th busiest in the United States, on 165 acres, with about 80% of its cargo exported and most of that bound for island nations in the Caribbean. It counts more than 3,500 people employed directly because of the port and another 6,000 jobs tied to the importers and exporters who use it. Its roots go back to 1915, when the Legislature created the Lake Worth Inlet District to dredge a channel to the ocean.

The city also operates a marina on the Intracoastal Waterway with 176 wet slips for vessels up to 300 feet long and two mooring fields holding 94 moorings between them, and it is permitting 40 more slips, according to the same budget. The Census Bureau's 2022 Economic Census put transportation and warehousing receipts for businesses in the city at about $304 million and health care and social assistance receipts at about $846 million. At the top of the city's list of principal employers is the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, with roughly 3,000 employees.

The city's own budget points to growth. It reports that taxable property values rose 8.2% for fiscal 2026, from $8.8 billion to $9.5 billion, after one of the largest increases in the county the year before. In the Marina Village district around the city marina, it is advancing a 131-unit workforce housing project and agreements for a planned residential building of about 400 more units, and the FY 2026 budget includes the city's first $500,000 commitment to promoting tourism.

The city as a whole is far younger than its oceanfront. Across the whole city the median age is 39.5 and 19.1% of residents are 65 or older, according to the 2020-2024 American Community Survey (opens in a new tab), and the same survey's social profile of the city (opens in a new tab) finds that 23.4% were born outside the United States and 22.0% of residents age 5 and up speak a language other than English at home. The two largest of those groups are close in size: about 3,400 residents who speak Spanish and about 3,000 who speak French, Haitian or Cajun, which the Census language table for Riviera Beach (opens in a new tab) reports as one group. Median household income was $68,060.

Singer Island: oceanfront towers and a town at the tip

Singer Island takes its name from Paris Singer, a son of sewing machine magnate Isaac Merritt Singer, who planned a luxury resort there in the 1920s with architect Addison Mizner. The city's history says the land bust, the 1928 hurricane and the stock market crash kept the plan from ever being fully realized. Earlier, fishermen and squatters, many of them from the Bahamas, lived at the island's south end in a settlement called Inlet City, which the Town of Palm Beach Shores history (opens in a new tab) dates to at least 1906. In 1940 the Town of Riviera bought 1,000 feet of Singer Island beach for $40,000, a purchase that the city's 1976 history (opens in a new tab) credits with eventually bringing the south end of Singer Island, apart from Palm Beach Shores, into the town. The town took the name Riviera Beach in 1941.

Bridges and storms have shaped the island. The county built a wooden bridge to Riviera in 1925, and the 1928 hurricane destroyed it along with 285 homes in Riviera. The present four-lane Blue Heron Bridge, officially the Jerry Thomas Memorial Bridge, was completed in 1976 to replace a two-lane drawbridge. The city still plans for the island as its own service area: voters approved a $25 million bond in March 2024 to rebuild Fire Station 86 on North Ocean Drive, and the budget describes beach renourishment and dune restoration along a shoreline it calls repeatedly impacted by storm activity.

The numbers show how different the oceanfront is from the rest of the city. In Census Tract 5.09, which takes in the North Ocean Drive condominium strip, including Ocean Reef Park and the city's municipal beach, the median age was 70.2 and about two in three residents were 65 or older in the 2020-2024 survey for that tract (opens in a new tab). Of its 2,918 homes, 1,635 were held for seasonal, recreational or occasional use, 97% were in buildings with 20 or more units, and the median owner-occupied home was valued at $867,800, against $354,500 citywide.

At the southern tip, the Town of Palm Beach Shores is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Lake Worth and the Lake Worth Inlet. Its developer decided in 1947 to buy 240 acres there, and the town began its corporate existence in 1951. The Palm Beach County profile (opens in a new tab) counts 1,330 year-round residents there in 2020 plus an estimated 687 seasonal residents; for Riviera Beach as a whole, county planners estimated 5,555 seasonal residents on top of the 2020 count.

The public beaches on this barrier island have three different public owners. Palm Beach County's Ocean Reef Park (opens in a new tab) has 700 feet of guarded beach on 13.68 acres at 3860 North Ocean Drive. The city runs its own municipal beach and has been gathering resident input on planned improvements there. Farther north on the same barrier island, with a North Palm Beach address, John D. MacArthur Beach State Park (opens in a new tab) has 1.6 miles of beach, a nature center and a lagoon where visitors paddle out to Munyon Island.

The lagoon in between

The Lake Worth Lagoon between the mainland and the island is part of the business map as well. Phil Foster Park (opens in a new tab), a 17.92-acre county park at 900 East Blue Heron Boulevard, sits beside the bridge with boat ramps and a snorkel trail of about two acres in 6-10 feet of water, built from 600 tons of rock. The county notes that the bridge area is internationally recognized by scientists, scuba divers, underwater photographers and snorkelers for its marine life. Peanut Island (opens in a new tab), a 37.44-acre county park reachable only by boat, grew from dredge spoil after the new inlet was cut in 1918.

What Your Website Needs to Do on Both Sides of the Bridge

Those facts translate into a handful of concrete jobs for a website here. Most come down to being exact about place and honest about who the customer is.

  • Pin down which side you are on: City Hall on the mainland, Ocean Reef Park on the island and the Palm Beach Shores town hall all use ZIP code 33404, so a ZIP code tells a customer nothing about which side of the water you are on. Name the side and a landmark people recognize, such as the Blue Heron Bridge, Marina Village or Ocean Reef Park, and keep a Palm Beach Shores business from being listed as Riviera Beach (or the reverse) on your site, in your structured data and on your Google Business Profile.
  • Design for your oldest customers if you cross the bridge: the oceanfront tract's median age of 70.2 is more than 30 years above the citywide 39.5. A business that serves both sides should set type size, contrast and button size for its island customers, not for the city average, and keep a tap-to-call number at the top of every page.
  • Show the absent owner the work: more than half the homes in the oceanfront tract are seasonal or occasional. A cleaning, repair, pest or property-check business should explain how an owner approves a job, pays and receives photos of the finished work, because the owner is often out of state when it happens.
  • Do not assume Spanish comes first: countywide (opens in a new tab), Spanish speakers outnumber the Census group for French, Haitian or Cajun by about three to one, but in Riviera Beach the two are nearly even, at about 3,400 and 3,000. Let your own call log decide which language, if any, gets its own pages.
  • Give directions by water as well as by road: between the city marina, its mooring fields, the Phil Foster ramps and a county park reachable only by boat, some of your customers may arrive on the water. If you serve boaters, list dockage, the nearest public ramp and any limits you know to be accurate, not only a street address.

Industries We Build For in Riviera Beach and on Singer Island

The mix of port, marina, beach and condominium customers here leads to some specific kinds of websites.

  • Shipping, logistics and export suppliers. With most of the port's exports headed to island nations in the Caribbean, a buyer may be in another country when they first find you. Product sheets, lead times, service areas and a quote form that loads quickly on a phone matter more than a flashy home page. Our custom website design and web development work covers quote request forms and downloadable product sheets.
  • Marine services, charters and dive operators. Mechanics, detailers, charter captains and snorkel guides near the Blue Heron Bridge need booking, a clear meeting point and an honest policy for bad conditions. Our local SEO work aims those pages at the searches boaters and divers make.
  • Hotels, rentals and beach businesses on Singer Island. Visitor pages need accurate beach access, parking and booking details. With the city putting $500,000 toward promoting tourism for the first time in its FY 2026 budget, this is a sensible moment to check them. See hospitality website design.
  • Condominium sales, rentals and property management. Island listings involve towers, associations and owners who live elsewhere part of the year, while on the mainland the planned Marina Village housing could add new listings near the marina. See real estate website design.
  • Restaurants and food service. Businesses in the city reported about $102 million in accommodation and food services sales in 2022. Menus, hours and ordering should work on a phone, and the site should say which side of the bridge you are on, so a visitor staying on the island can tell how far away you are. See restaurant website design.
  • Health care and senior services. Health care and social assistance businesses in the city reported about $846 million in 2022 receipts, and the island population skews older, so practices need sites that work with screen readers, magnification and keyboards. See ADA website accessibility.

Every site also gets the speed and code-quality work described on our website performance page, plus the question-led content from answer engine optimization, so AI assistants that summarize local businesses have your correct hours and service area to work from. Riviera Beach and Singer Island Website Questions

Should my website say Riviera Beach, Singer Island or Palm Beach Shores?

Use the municipality you are legally in for your address and structured data, and use the place names customers actually say in your headings and copy. A business on North Ocean Drive is in the City of Riviera Beach, but people search for Singer Island, so both names belong on the page. A business at the southern tip is in the Town of Palm Beach Shores, a separate town, and should say so. All three share ZIP code 33404, so the ZIP code alone will not settle it.

We ship to the Caribbean through the Port of Palm Beach. What should our website include?

Answer what an overseas buyer needs before the first email: what you sell or move, minimum orders, lead times, the islands you serve and how to request a quote. Put specifications in plain text as well as in PDFs, so search engines and translation tools can read them. The port reports that about 80% of its cargo is exported, mostly to island nations in the Caribbean, so expect many visitors to be outside Florida and make your contact options work across borders.

How should a snorkel or dive business near the Blue Heron Bridge use its website?

Make the practical details easy to find: where to meet, where to park, what to bring, what happens when conditions are poor, and whether you are permitted to teach. Palm Beach County requires dive instructors to obtain a permit before teaching at Phil Foster Park, so state your status plainly. Link to the county park page for hours and rules instead of copying them, so your site never contradicts the official information.

Is the Marina Village redevelopment a reason to update my website now?

If you serve mainland neighborhoods, it is a good prompt. The city is advancing a 131-unit workforce housing project and about 400 more planned homes at Marina Village, and every household that moves in will need a dentist, a barber or a plumber it has not found yet. Check that your Google Business Profile categories, hours and service area are current and that your site names the neighborhoods you really serve.

My customers live on both sides of the Blue Heron Bridge. Do I need two websites?

No. One website with a separate page for each side is usually enough, and it is easier to keep accurate than two. Write each page for its own customers instead of swapping the place name. In the oceanfront Census tract the median owner-occupied home was valued at $867,800, against $354,500 citywide, and more than half of the homes are held for seasonal or occasional use, so the island page should speak to owners who are away part of the year and the mainland page to the year-round neighbors who make up most of the city.
