Website Design for Jupiter and Tequesta Businesses

Jupiter is an inlet town of about 62,000 people that has more than doubled its population since 1990. Tequesta, just to the north, is a village of about 6,300 on less than two square miles of land. Their customers are different, so their websites should be too.

Jupiter and Tequesta at a Glance for Business Owners

Jupiter and Tequesta both sit on the Loxahatchee River, but they are separate governments with separate rules. The Town of Jupiter has a council-manager government and runs its own water and stormwater utilities, and the Village of Tequesta has its own council, building department and zoning code. A much smaller municipality also uses the Jupiter name: the Town of Jupiter Inlet Colony, which the county planning division's profile lists at 405 residents in the 2020 Census on 0.19 square miles of land. For a business, the first job of a website here is to be clear about which of these places it actually serves.

Jupiter: an Inlet Town That Kept Growing

The Town of Jupiter was incorporated on February 9, 1925, according to the town's demographics page (opens in a new tab), so February 9, 2025 marked 100 years. Most of its growth is recent. The county planning division's profile (opens in a new tab) shows 24,986 residents in 1990, 55,156 in 2010 and 61,047 at the 2020 Census, and the Census Bureau estimated 62,350 by July 2025, spread over 21.63 square miles of land.

Water explains a lot about the town. The Jupiter Inlet District (opens in a new tab), an independent special taxing district the Legislature created in 1921, maintains the inlet and the navigation channel from the mouth of the Loxahatchee River to the Atlantic, and describes itself as the oldest local government body in northern Palm Beach County. Upriver, the Loxahatchee is Florida's first federally designated Wild and Scenic River (opens in a new tab), and the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System (opens in a new tab) lists 7.6 designated miles. The county's 644.81-acre Riverbend Park (opens in a new tab) on Indiantown Road takes in the Loxahatchee Battlefield from the Second Seminole War, nearly 10 miles of shell rock trails and canoe and kayak access to the river.

Closer to the coast, the town's master-planned Riverwalk (opens in a new tab) runs mainly along the eastern shore of the Intracoastal Waterway from the Jupiter Ridge Natural Area north to the inlet, and is planned to open about 2.5 miles of waterfront to the public when it is complete. The Jupiter Waterway Trail (opens in a new tab), which ties the river, the Intracoastal and the inlet together for paddlers, boaters and divers, was recognized by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Greenways and Trails System in 2013. The photo at the top of this page was taken from DuBois Park (opens in a new tab), a 22.13-acre county park whose pioneer home and the Jupiter Inlet Mound are listed together on the National Register of Historic Places as the Jupiter Inlet Historic and Archeological Site.

The local economy is wider than boats and beaches. In the Census Bureau's 2022 Economic Census figures, health care and social assistance businesses in Jupiter took in about $1.05 billion, retail sales came to about $1.16 billion, and accommodation and food services sales were about $389 million. Florida Atlantic University's John D. MacArthur Campus (opens in a new tab) opened in Jupiter in fall 1999 and houses the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College. The Wertheim UF Scripps Institute (opens in a new tab) occupies a three-building campus off Donald Ross Road that has been open since 2009; the former Scripps Florida joined UF Health, the University of Florida's academic health center, in April 2022.

Every spring the town also hosts Major League spring training. A Town of Jupiter staff report (opens in a new tab) lists Palm Beach County as the owner of the roughly 90-acre spring training complex in Abacoa, home to two Major League teams. A 2025 report to the county's Tourist Development Council (opens in a new tab) counted 31 spring training games at the Jupiter stadium that year, with an estimated economic impact of more than $25 million.

Census survey figures sketch who the town's customers are. In the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey, 53.5% of adults 25 and older held a bachelor's degree or higher, 78.5% of homes were owner-occupied and the median owner-occupied home was valued at $608,600. About 24.4% of residents are 65 or older and 18.4% are under 18, and 20.4% of residents age 5 and older speak a language other than English at home.

Tequesta: a Small Village Reworking Its Main Streets

The Village of Tequesta was incorporated on June 4, 1957. On its resident services page (opens in a new tab), the village describes itself as about 2.21 square miles with Loxahatchee River and ocean frontage, and as a mix of single-family neighborhoods and condominium complexes that attracts families, working professionals and retirees. The Census Bureau puts its land area at 1.83 square miles, its 2020 population at 6,158 and its July 1, 2025 estimate at 6,299.

Tequesta's population skews older than Jupiter's, and people tend to stay. QuickFacts (opens in a new tab) reports, from the 2020-2024 American Community Survey, that 31.1% of residents are 65 or older, 80.2% of homes are owner-occupied, and 92.8% of residents lived in the same house a year earlier. County planners estimated about 1,015 additional seasonal residents in 2020, roughly one for every six people who live there all year. Retail sales per resident run higher than in Jupiter: retail sales in 2022 came to about $131 million in Tequesta, or $21,475 per resident, compared with $18,956 per resident in Jupiter.

The village is also rewriting the rules for its commercial streets. On October 16, 2024, the Village Council adopted Ordinance 1-24, which created three zoning overlays (opens in a new tab): the Tequesta Drive Overlay, the US Highway One Overlay and the Village Center Overlay. The US 1 overlay's stated purpose is a pedestrian friendly commercial corridor, and new building is encouraged, though not required, to follow the architectural guidelines in the village's 2022 Commercial Corridor Master Plan.

Two more details shape local business. Coral Cove Park (opens in a new tab), a 9.58-acre county beach park at 1600 Beach Road, carries a Tequesta address and offers 600 feet of guarded beach, 2,010 more feet of beach reached by dune crossovers and 600 feet of Intracoastal frontage. And anyone renting a home or condo to visitors in the village needs a vacation rental permit (opens in a new tab) from the Building Department; the village's permit package caps overnight occupancy at two people per bedroom and eight per unit.

What a Website Has to Do in These Two Towns

Those facts lead to specific choices. These are the ones we would raise first with an owner in either town:

  • Say which town you are in. Jupiter, Tequesta, Jupiter Inlet Colony and Jupiter Island are four different municipalities, and Jupiter Island is in Martin County. A Tequesta business that calls itself "Jupiter" to borrow the bigger name confuses map results and the customers who live two streets away. Name your real town first, then list the others you serve.
  • Give directions by land and by water. Charter, rental, dive and paddle customers want to know where to park, where to board or launch, and whether the trip heads out through the inlet or stays on the Loxahatchee and the Intracoastal. A short page for each departure point, with a map and plain directions, answers that before the phone rings.
  • Publish a spring training plan. Restaurants, rentals and shops near Abacoa should post spring hours, reservation rules and parking notes before the first game, then switch back when the teams leave. With 31 home games in 2025, the busy stretch is short, so those pages need to be live from the start.
  • Write for newcomers to the research campuses. Students, researchers and staff who move to Jupiter for the FAU or Wertheim UF Scripps campuses may need a dentist, a landlord or a child care center before they know the area. Service-area pages that explain where you are in relation to Donald Ross Road or Indiantown Road help them pick you.
  • Make it easy for Tequesta regulars to come back. In a village where 92.8% of residents lived in the same house a year earlier and almost a third are 65 or older, many customers are long-time neighbors. Put a tap-to-call number at the top of every page, give them a one-step way to rebook or reorder, and keep hours current so nobody drives over to a locked door.
  • Keep customers posted through construction. If the new overlays bring renovation or redevelopment to your stretch of US 1 or Tequesta Drive, temporary entrances, parking changes and moves belong on your website the day they happen.
  • Match rental listings to the permit. A Tequesta vacation rental site should state the guest count the village permit allows and never advertise more.
  • Choose languages town by town. In the 2020-2024 survey, 20.4% of Jupiter residents age 5 and older spoke a language other than English at home; in Tequesta the share was 11.9%. A Jupiter clinic or contractor should find out whether those households are among its customers before deciding on a second-language section; for a Tequesta shop the case is weaker.

Industries We Build For Here

This is how we would approach the main kinds of businesses in the two towns:

  • Marine, charter, dive and paddle businesses: trip pages, online booking and a cancellation policy you can update from the dock. See tourism and hospitality websites and, for anything that needs custom booking logic, custom website design.
  • Medical, dental and therapy practices: health care is a billion-dollar business in Jupiter, and Tequesta's older patients need pages they can read and use with assistive technology. Our ADA website accessibility work covers the testing.
  • Real estate agents and property managers: with median home values of $608,600 in Jupiter and $572,800 in Tequesta (2020-2024 survey), buyers are better served by separate, accurate pages for each town and for Jupiter Inlet Colony. See real estate website design.
  • Restaurants and cafes near the Riverwalk and Abacoa: menus that load fast on a phone and hours that change for spring training. See restaurant website design.
  • Firms that serve the research campuses: suppliers, consultants, lawyers and accountants whose clients often compare them online first. We build the forms and the booking or payment connections through web development, and help AI tools describe you accurately through generative engine optimization.
  • Home services for owner-occupied homes: with 78.5% of Jupiter homes and 80.2% of Tequesta homes occupied by their owners, pool, air conditioning, roofing, landscaping and repair companies have a large local market to win. Local SEO with a page for each town you truly serve, plus answer engine optimization for the questions homeowners ask, is where we start.

Every site is hand-coded and tested for speed, as our website performance page explains. The work happens by phone, video and email, and the Palm Beach County page and our contact page cover how a project starts.

Jupiter and Tequesta Website Questions

My shop is in Tequesta. Should my website say Jupiter instead, since more people search for it?

No. Tequesta is its own village, incorporated in 1957 with its own council and its own zoning code, and the people who live there search for it by name. Use your real Tequesta address everywhere, then say plainly that you also serve Jupiter, Jupiter Inlet Colony and the Martin County communities to the north. Search engines and map apps have an easier time with a business whose address and stated service area agree.

How early should a business near Abacoa get its spring training pages ready?

Early January is a sensible target, well before the first game. Pages that go up the week the teams arrive may not appear in search results until the games are under way. The county-owned complex in Abacoa hosted 31 spring training games in 2025, so a nearby restaurant, rental or shop has a short window in which to be found.

What should a charter or boat rental site based near the Jupiter Inlet show?

Where customers park and board, whether the trip runs out through the inlet to the ocean or stays on the Loxahatchee and the Intracoastal, what it includes, and how to book and pay online. Add a map of the departure point and a short status notice you can change from your phone, so a weather cancellation reaches customers before they drive over.

How should a Tequesta vacation rental website describe how many guests it can sleep?

List the number your village permit allows. The Village of Tequesta requires a vacation rental permit, and its permit package limits overnight stays to two people per bedroom and no more than eight per unit. We are not lawyers, so confirm your own figure with the village Building Department, then make the website, the booking form and every listing match it.

Do the new Tequesta zoning overlays change anything on my website?

Not directly, because the overlays govern buildings, not websites. They matter when your property is renovated or rebuilt, or when you move. Update your address, entrance, parking and hours on the site and on your Google Business Profile the same day, and post a short notice so regular customers are not caught off guard.

Jupiter Inlet Colony is tiny. Should my service area list it separately from Jupiter?

Yes, if you actually work there. It is a separate town, not a neighborhood of Jupiter, with 405 residents at the 2020 Census on 0.19 square miles of land, according to the county planning division. One line in your service-area list covers it for most businesses. A pool, landscaping or property company with customers there should name it as its own town, just as it would name Tequesta.
