Website Design for Hobe Sound and Jupiter Island Businesses

Hobe Sound is an unincorporated community along US 1. Jupiter Island is a town of about 820 permanent residents across the Intracoastal. We build websites that serve customers on both ends of Bridge Road.

  • Service-area pages that name both places
  • Route and storm notices you can post fast
  • Remote studio on Eastern time

A1A Web Design builds websites and local search for Hobe Sound and Jupiter Island businesses: the contractors and caretakers who work on island estates, health and wellness practices, outdoor and nature businesses, agents and the storefronts along Bridge Road. Aldo works remotely from Buffalo, New York, keeping your Eastern hours, with no Florida office and no site visits.

Hobe Sound and Jupiter Island at a Glance for Business Owners

These two places share a ZIP code and a bridge, yet the numbers behind them look nothing alike. The Town of Jupiter Island lists its own Town Hall at 2 Bridge Road, Hobe Sound, FL 33455 (opens in a new tab), and the state park and the wildlife refuge headquarters on the mainland use Hobe Sound addresses as well. One mailing address can describe either side of the water, so your website has to make the difference clear.

Hobe Sound: a census community, not a city

Hobe Sound has no town government of its own. The Census Bureau treats it as a census-designated place in unincorporated Martin County, and its QuickFacts profile (opens in a new tab) shows 13,163 residents in the 2020 Census, up from 11,521 in 2010. The Bureau's boundary for the place also grew between those counts, from 5.27 to 7.11 square miles of land, so part of that increase may come from the larger area rather than new arrivals. QuickFacts shows no annual population estimate for Hobe Sound; the American Community Survey put it at 13,817 for 2020-2024, with a margin of error of about 1,500, and the median age at 57.0 (opens in a new tab).

The community runs along US 1, which local addresses call SE Federal Highway, and the parallel Dixie Highway. Bridge Road is the east-west spine that leads to the island. Martin County adopted a Hobe Sound Community Redevelopment Plan (opens in a new tab) in 2000. The county says reinforcing the community's small-town character is the plan's primary aim, with investment geared to turning Bridge Road into a main street that works for businesses and for people on foot. South of Bridge Road, between US 1 and Dixie Highway, the county's 28-acre Hobe Sound Scrub Preserve (opens in a new tab) protects sand pine scrub on an ancient dune that the county says is more than 100,000 years old. Martin County bought that land in 2018.

Two large public properties front US 1 here. Jonathan Dickinson State Park (opens in a new tab) is at 16450 SE Federal Highway; Florida State Parks counts sixteen distinct natural communities inside it and points to a secret World War II training camp and Trapper Nelson's 1930s homestead as part of its history. About two miles south of Bridge Road, the national wildlife refuge keeps its headquarters and visitor center (opens in a new tab) at 13640 SE Federal Highway, and entry to that mainland tract is free. The refuge also explains the place name: according to the Fish and Wildlife Service (opens in a new tab), Hobe Sound's name comes from the Jaega, or "Jobe," people, and the refuge itself began in 1969 when the Joseph V. Reed family conveyed land to the agency. It now covers 1,091 acres in two tracts, one on the mainland and one on Jupiter Island, divided by the Indian River Lagoon.

The Census figures describe a settled, older community. In the 2020-2024 survey, 94.7% of Hobe Sound residents lived in the same house as a year earlier, households averaged 2.20 people, 77.8% of homes were owner-occupied and the median household income was $63,484. The Census Bureau's 2022 business figures for Hobe Sound show about $184.9 million in retail sales and about $176.4 million in health care and social assistance receipts, nearly an even split, against about $23.3 million in accommodation and food services sales.

Jupiter Island: a town of estates and preserves

The Florida Legislature established the Town of Jupiter Island in 1953. According to the town's community profile (opens in a new tab), it covers about 1,643 acres on a barrier island at the south end of Martin County, with nine miles of ocean frontage on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. The town describes its main land uses as single-family homes on secluded estates and conservation land, and it puts the permanent population at about 820, with a seasonal population of nearly 2,000.

Census numbers fit that description. The 2020 Census counted 804 residents (opens in a new tab), and the Census Bureau's city and town population estimates (opens in a new tab) put the town at 841 on July 1, 2025. Of 746 housing units in 2020, the Census found 375 occupied and 329 held for seasonal, recreational or occasional use (opens in a new tab), about 44%. Hobe Sound's figure was 744 of 7,366 units, about 10%. American Community Survey estimates for 2020-2024 put Jupiter Island's median age at 64.4, with 48.9% of residents 65 or older, though a town this small carries a wide margin of error (plus or minus 7.1 points on that share).

Public land shapes the island as well. The refuge's beach tract is reached from North Beach Road at the north end of the island, where the Fish and Wildlife Service requires a vehicle pass ($5 a day). Martin County's Hobe Sound Beach (opens in a new tab) sits at 1 SE Beach Road, with lifeguards on duty from 10:00 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. The Nature Conservancy, a conservation nonprofit, owns Blowing Rocks Preserve (opens in a new tab), 73 acres that Jupiter Island residents gave to the group in 1969; the Conservancy says the preserve holds the largest Anastasia limestone shoreline on the Atlantic coast. The town has spent decades holding on to its sand, too: residents began building seawalls and groins and adding sand in the 1950s, and state legislation created the town's Beach Protection District (opens in a new tab) on April 9, 1982.

One road, one tree tunnel and a second way off the island

Bridge Road crosses the Intracoastal Waterway to the island, and on both sides of the bridge it runs under more than 100 historic ficus trees, the corridor shown at the top of this page. The Town of Jupiter Island maintains the whole canopy, including Martin County's stretch west of the bridge. On June 12, 2024, an EF-1 tornado followed Bridge Road east from near US 1. The town's recap of the cleanup (opens in a new tab) says at least 22 trees came down across the road, and that for about 48 hours the south bridge at Jupiter Inlet Colony was the only way on or off the island while the county inspected the north bridge. Crews had nearly every tree set upright again within about five days.

What a Website Needs to Do on Both Sides of the Bridge

Those facts add up to a short list of jobs that a Hobe Sound or Jupiter Island website has to do well.

  • Win clients who are out of town: with roughly 820 permanent residents and nearly 2,000 in season, many island clients will find you while they are somewhere else. Give them what a long-distance hire needs: the exact services you offer, photos of finished work, how you report progress, and a quote form that does not depend on catching you by phone.
  • Show you can work under the town's rules: Jupiter Island requires contractors to register with the town (opens in a new tab), sending a license, general liability and workers' compensation coverage (or an exemption) and a business tax receipt. If you are registered, say so where owners and property managers will see it.
  • Offer only times you can actually work: the town's seasonal contractor hours (opens in a new tab) allow construction from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and until 1 p.m. on Saturdays between November 1 and April 30, and from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays between May 1 and October 31, with Saturday work by written approval. Sundays and legal holidays are off limits for construction and lawn work. A booking page that offers only legal time slots spares everyone a call.
  • Keep a route notice ready: when Bridge Road is blocked, island customers need to know which bridge is open before they set out. A one-click banner naming the open route, any changed appointments and the best way to reach you protects your schedule and your reputation.
  • Make your proof readable at any zoom: the median age is 57.0 in Hobe Sound and an estimated 64.4 on the island, and the people checking your registration, insurance and references may be reading on a tablet with the text enlarged. Put those details in real page text, not a scanned PDF that turns fuzzy when someone zooms in. Our contact forms also skip the puzzle-style CAPTCHAs that frustrate people and rely on layered spam filtering instead.
  • Treat privacy as part of the service: the town describes its homes as secluded estates. Before a project photo goes online, get the owner's written permission and crop out house numbers, gates and anything else that identifies the property.

Businesses We Build For in Hobe Sound and on Jupiter Island

Estate contractors and home services. The town's primary land uses are homes and conservation land, so the builders, roofers, pool and landscape crews and property caretakers who keep those homes running travel there to work. A custom website can carry a registration and insurance page, a gallery cleared with owners and a service map that covers both sides of the water. For scheduling tools, quote calculators or a client login, our web development work builds the custom pieces.

Health care and wellness practices. Health care receipts in Hobe Sound nearly matched retail sales in 2022, and a third of residents are 65 or older. The island's population also more than doubles in season by the town's own count, so a practice that sees winter residents should explain how a first visit works: how to send records ahead, which forms can be completed before arrival and whether you accept patients who are here only for the season. Our ADA website accessibility work builds to a WCAG 2.2 AA target and tests each page with axe-core, a keyboard and a screen reader.

Outdoor guides, paddling and nature businesses. As of October 2026, the Florida State Parks page for Jonathan Dickinson lists all park concessions as unavailable since June 30, 2026, including canoe, kayak and bicycle rentals and boat tours. Visitors who arrive expecting to rent a kayak may start searching on their phones. If you rent gear or guide trips nearby, a fast page with prices, launch details and booking is the kind of page our tourism and hospitality websites are built around.

Real estate agents and property managers. With 44% of Jupiter Island homes held for seasonal use in 2020, many owners are away from the island for part of the year. Real estate websites for this market should explain the town's contractor rules, the public beach access points and the difference between a mainland Hobe Sound address and an island one.

Restaurants and Bridge Road storefronts. Hobe Sound's accommodation and food services sales came to about $23.3 million in 2022, small next to its retail and health care totals. The county's redevelopment plan aims to make Bridge Road work for businesses and for people on foot, so a storefront page there should name the nearest cross street, say where to park and keep its hours current. Our restaurant websites put the menu, the hours and a map pin that matches the sign out front where a phone user sees them first.

Under all of this sits local SEO that names Hobe Sound and Jupiter Island in the places search engines look, plus plainly worded answers that give answer engines and AI assistants clear facts to work from. Hobe Sound and Jupiter Island Website Questions

Should my website say I am registered to work in the Town of Jupiter Island?

Yes, if you are. The town asks contractors to register by sending a state or local license, proof of general liability and workers' compensation coverage (or an exemption) and a business tax receipt. A short, current statement that you are registered answers a question island owners and property managers would otherwise have to ask before they call.

Many of my Jupiter Island clients are away for part of the year. What does my website need for them?

Write it for someone who may hire you without meeting you first. The town counts about 820 permanent residents and nearly 2,000 in season, so some owners will be choosing a contractor from another state. Say who meets the caretaker or property manager at the house, how approvals work by email and how often you send dated photos. A form that asks for the property, the scope of work and the best way to reach the owner saves a round of back-and-forth.

How do I tell customers which bridge to use when Bridge Road is closed?

Keep a ready-made route banner you can switch on in minutes. After the June 12, 2024 tornado, the town reports that the south bridge at Jupiter Inlet Colony was the only way on or off the island for about 48 hours. A banner that names the open route and says whether appointments are moving saves a stack of phone calls, and if you choose our optional SimpleCMS editor, you can post it yourself.

Can I show photos of island homes I have worked on?

Only with the owner's permission, ideally in writing. The town describes its main land use as single-family homes on secluded estates, so treat privacy as the default. Crop out house numbers, gates and street views, and describe each project by the work rather than the address. A gallery handled that way still proves your quality, and it shows the next client you will be discreet.

Should my Hobe Sound website mention Jonathan Dickinson State Park or the wildlife refuge?

Mention them when they help someone find you or explain what you do. Both front US 1 in Hobe Sound, so they work as landmarks in directions, such as 'just north of the refuge visitor center.' Never imply a partnership you do not have, and check hours or services against the official pages before you repeat them, since park notices change during the year.

Jupiter Island mail is addressed to Hobe Sound. How do I show which side of the water I work on?

Say it in plain words next to your address. The Town Hall at 2 Bridge Road uses a Hobe Sound, FL 33455 address, and so does the state park on the mainland, so a ZIP code alone cannot tell a reader which side of the Intracoastal you mean. Add a line such as 'Based in mainland Hobe Sound, working in homes on Jupiter Island,' and give the island its own page about the work you do there.
